Terms of Use

• Alisi does not diagnose, treat, prevent or cure anything, and nothing in it is medical advice.
• Never practise breath holding in or near water, while driving, or standing up. People have died doing this in water.
• Answer the health questions honestly. If something applies to you, we will keep the retention exercises locked — that is the feature working, not a bug.
• Plus renews automatically. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account; cancelling in Alisi is not possible because we do not control the billing.
• If you are in the EU or UK you have a 14-day right to withdraw, unless you asked us to start immediately and gave up that right.

These terms are between you and [LEGAL ENTITY], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], company number [COMPANY NUMBER], telephone [CONTACT PHONE]. By using Alisi you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

Alisi is a wellbeing and training app. It is not a medical device, it is not supervised by a clinician, and nothing in it — including any educational content — is medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any condition.

We describe what the evidence for these techniques actually shows, including where it is weak. Do not use Alisi as a substitute for treatment, and do not stop or change any treatment because of something you read here. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are unsure whether these exercises are suitable for you, speak to a doctor first.

If you are in a mental health crisis, Alisi is not the right tool. Contact your local emergency number or a crisis line.

Some Alisi exercises ask you to breathe quickly and then hold your breath. This is not the same category of risk as the paced-breathing exercises, and you should understand why before you use them.

Breathing quickly lowers the carbon dioxide in your blood. Carbon dioxide is what triggers the urge to breathe — so after over-breathing, a breath hold feels comfortable while the oxygen in your blood keeps falling. You can lose consciousness without ever feeling short of breath first. This is a well-documented mechanism and it is the reason for every rule below.

By using the breath-retention exercises you confirm that you will:

• Never practise them in or near water — no pool, sea, bath or shower. Fainting in water drowns you, and people have died this way.
• Never practise them while driving, cycling, swimming or operating machinery.
• Always practise sitting or lying down, somewhere you cannot fall or strike anything.
• Stop immediately if you feel chest pain, a pounding or irregular heartbeat, a severe headache, confusion, or that you are about to faint.

You accept that fainting is a possible outcome of these exercises even when you follow every rule, and you take responsibility for practising somewhere that is safe if it happens.

Before your first breath-retention session we ask a short set of health questions. Answer them honestly — they stay on your phone and we never see them.

If your answers indicate a condition for which breath retention is not recommended, Alisi will keep those exercises locked. A subscription will not unlock them, and that is deliberate: we will not sell you access to something we have decided is not safe for you. The rest of the app remains fully available.

You can change your answers at any time in Profile. Please do that because your health has changed, not to get past the gate.

You must be at least 16 years old, or older if your country requires it. If you are under 18, please talk to a parent or guardian before using the breath-retention exercises.

You do not need an account to use Alisi. If you create one, keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has access. You can delete your account at any time from Profile, or from tryalisi.com/account-deletion.

ALISI Plus is an auto-renewing subscription. The current price, billing period and any free trial are shown on the purchase screen before you buy, and you have to agree to the renewal terms specifically — not just to these terms as a whole.

• Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
• A free trial converts into a paid subscription when it ends, unless you cancel before then. We will remind you before that happens.
• Cancel in your App Store or Google Play account. We cannot cancel it for you, because Apple and Google hold the billing relationship.
• Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• If we increase the price, we will tell you in advance and you will have to actively agree. If you do not, your subscription simply stops renewing rather than being charged at the new price.
• Deleting your Alisi account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it separately or you will keep being billed.

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase without giving a reason.

Because ALISI Plus unlocks immediately, we ask you at the point of purchase to expressly request that it starts straight away and to acknowledge that doing so means you lose the right to withdraw once it has. If you would rather keep the right, do not consent to immediate access — your subscription will begin after the 14 days instead. Either way we will send you confirmation of the contract.

To withdraw within the period, email hello@tryalisi.com — a clear statement is enough and you do not need a form.

Purchases are made through Apple and Google, so refunds are handled under their policies and by them, not by us. We will help you where we can, but we cannot issue a refund for a payment we never received. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.

Please do not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source of the app, except where the law says you may.
• Resell, sublicense or redistribute Alisi or its content.
• Use Alisi to instruct or supervise anyone else, or in a clinical or therapeutic setting, without our written agreement.
• Interfere with the service or try to gain access to parts of it that are not yours.
• Remove or bypass any safety gate, or help anyone else do so.

The app, its content, the Alisi name and its branding belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Alisi for your own non-commercial use, for as long as you comply with these terms.

Anything you put into Alisi — a custom session you build, your notes — stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it and show it back to you.

We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something significant that you are paying for, we will tell you in advance and, where it is fair, offer a refund of the unused part of your subscription. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, though the core breathing exercises are built to work offline.

Alisi is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything written here.

Where our liability can lawfully be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

These terms are governed by the law of [GOVERNING LAW]. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring proceedings there. We are not asking you to give up the right to go to court, and there is no compulsory arbitration clause here.

If we change these terms materially we will tell you in the app before the change applies, and give you a reasonable chance to cancel if you do not accept them.
